Kid Rock “Banned” from Performing in California by Governor Newsom

California Governor Gavin Newsom has taken to social media to mock musician Kid Rock, declaring that the artist is “indefinitely suspended” from performing in the state due to his “horrific music.” The announcement was made via Newsom’s official press office account on X (formerly Twitter), reading:

“BECAUSE OF HIS HORRIFIC MUSIC, CALIFORNIA WILL INDEFINITELY SUSPEND KID ROCK FROM PERFORMING IN THE GOLDEN STATE. YOU’RE WELCOME!” — GCN

This statement is a satirical jab at the musician, known for his support of former President Donald Trump. It follows a series of online exchanges between Newsom and Kid Rock, reflecting the governor’s use of social media to engage in political discourse and commentary.

The feud between Newsom and Kid Rock began earlier this year when Newsom’s press office posted a parody image of the musician dressed as Uncle Sam, implying support for Newsom. Kid Rock responded with a crude insult, and the back-and-forth escalated with further posts from Newsom’s team declaring animosity toward the artist and taking jabs at his popularity  .

While the “ban” is not a formal policy or legal action, it serves as a commentary on the intersection of politics and pop culture in today’s media landscape. Newsom’s approach mirrors tactics used by former President Trump, known for his use of social media to engage in public feuds and political discourse.

As of now, Kid Rock has not publicly responded to Newsom’s latest satirical statement. The ongoing exchange underscores the increasingly blurred lines between entertainment and politics in the digital age.
