Marilyn Manson Settles Rape Lawsuit

Marilyn Manson and Jane Doe, who accused him of rape, settled before next week’s scheduled trial. Adam Wolf, the lawyer of Doe, filed a notice of settlement in the court of Los Angeles on Wednesday, September 27. They will drop the case within 45 days.

She filed the lawsuit in 2021, claiming that the singer, whose real name is Brain Warner, raped her. He didn’t allow her food and sleep. He threatened to ‘bash her head in’ if she reported, which occurred in 2011.

In a statement with Rolling Stone, Doe said, “I was fully prepared for trial and never in a million years thought I would ever settle, but over the past two-and-a-half years, I have silently endured threats, bullying, harassment, and various forms of intimidation that have intensified over the past few weeks. The singer attended my deposition.  They forced me to endure seven hours of aggressive questioning while he stared at me from across the table. People have told me that this rarely happens and that it’s cruel, often used to intimidate and inflict emotional distress on a victim.”

She added, “I never cared about money and only ever wanted justice. If we had gone to trial, I could have lost my right to anonymity and been victim-blamed on a large and public scale. Most importantly, I could have risked losing the freedom to tell my story. It is worth more than anything in the world.”

As of now, the terms of the settlement are not public. “Brian is pleased that, just as previous lawsuits were abandoned without payment or settled for pennies on the dollar, this plaintiff has now agreed to drop her suit in exchange for an insurance payment representing a fraction of her demands and far less than the cost to Brian of proceeding to trial,” Warner’s lawyer Howard King mentioned in a statement.

The settlement is the second one this year for Marilyn Manson.

In January, Marilyn Manson resolved a legal dispute with Game of Thrones actress Esme Bianco.

Furthermore, following Evan Rachel Wood’s allegation of abuse, more than twelve women have come forward and spoken against him. They shared their experiences with Rolling Stone in 2021.
