Lars Ulrich, the drummer of METALLICA confronted that he and his fellow musician’s decisions are never influenced by the fan’s commentary, mainly when it is musical matters. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, he stated they have been doing the same thing since the beginning. Back in 1982, When they began their musical journey, their style of music didn’t work well with what was popular on the Sunset Strip. They featured the acoustic guitar intro in ‘Fade To Black’ on the ‘Ride The Lightning’ album in 1984. There was a significant controversy. People raised questions about their decision to include an acoustic element in what people considered a thrash metal album. It is their experience over four decades.

He explained, “We’ve always charted our own course. we were all searching for a sense of belonging. Being an only child, I had nothing to hang on to. So being in a band, being with James [Hetfield, METALLICA frontman], being part of a scene of like-minded outcasts and misfits gave me a sense of belonging and a sense of identity. METALLICA’s path will forever tie to my path. It’s the only path that I’ve ever been on.”

He also spoke about their presence in the forthcoming Power Trip festival. The festival will be held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, and is set for October 6, 7 and 8. This will bring the six Musical titans together. They have scheduled the festival as:

GUNS N’ ROSES and IRON MAIDEN (Friday, October 6)

AC/DC and JUDAS PRIEST (Saturday, October 7)

METALLICA and TOOL (Sunday, October 8)

Earlier in 2011, they performed at the Empire Polo Grounds as part of the West Coast installment of the “Big Four” event. Moreover, it featured legendary rock bands like ANTHRAX, MEGADETH, and SLAYER.
