Noel Gallagher Refuses to Watch World Cup Half-Time Show: “They’re Not Really Football People who are performing anyway”

Noel Gallagher has made it very clear — he will not be watching the star-studded World Cup half-time show at this year’s final.

The Oasis guitarist, who has secured a ticket for the World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19, 2026, shared his brutally honest thoughts in a new interview.

For the first time in World Cup history, organizers are introducing a major Super Bowl-style half-time performance, curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. The lineup reportedly includes Madonna, BTS, and Shakira.

When asked if he was excited about the show, Gallagher didn’t hold back:

“No, I’m not. I don’t like changes in football. I’m looking forward to these new rules about corners and time-wasting, that might be a good thing for the game, but I don’t like the razzmatazz of football; it’s been functioning perfectly for hundreds of years.”

He then delivered a classic Noel dig at the performers:

They’re not really football people who are performing anyway, are they?

Gallagher even joked about his own potential involvement, saying he’d rather do “the half-time raffle for a leg of lamb.”

He also revealed he previously turned down an offer to get involved in an England World Cup song back in the 1990s.

Classic Noel — unfiltered, opinionated, and hilariously blunt. While many will be hyped for the glitzy half-time spectacle, Gallagher represents the old-school football purists who just want to watch the game without the massive commercial circus. Love him or hate him, you always know exactly where he stands.
