Opening Night — October 30 (approx.) – Wheeling, WV, Capitol Theater
When Robert Plant stepped back on a U.S. stage with Saving Grace, it felt less like a comeback and more like a reckoning. For decades, Plant has resisted nostalgia, choosing instead to push into new terrain—and on the opening night of the North American leg, he proved exactly why. The sold-out crowd in Wheeling, West Virginia watched as Plant, backed by singer Suzi Dian, drummer Oli Jefferson, guitarist Tony Kelsey, banjo/string player Matt Worley and cellist Barney Morse-Brown, delivered a 14-song set that threaded the promise of his new album Saving Grace with bold reinterpretations of his Led Zeppelin legacy.
“I knew he was going to be great, but… wow,” one fan said to a friend as they left the venue—the sentiment captured the charged mix of surprise and awe that hung in the air. [ ]
From the opening strains of “The Cuckoo” to a dramatic rendition of “Gallows Pole”, Plant moved with purpose, giving the established hits context in a show rooted in discovery, not just remembrance. The new songs stood tall, the older ones felt reclaimed—and throughout, Plant left space for his band to shine.
