Progressive rock titans Rush made history on June 18, 2026, delivering their first-ever concert in Mexico City at the iconic Palacio de los Deportes as part of the hotly anticipated “Fifty Something” tour. Fan-filmed footage from the sold-out night captures the band firing on all cylinders in front of a passionate hometown crowd hungry for their return.
The performance marked a major milestone for Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson as they continue the band’s legacy following the tragic passing of drummer Neil Peart in 2020. Joined by powerhouse drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold, the revamped lineup delivered a dynamic two-set show packed with classics and emotional tributes to their late bandmate.

The set drew from a deep pool of nearly 40 Rush classics, with plans to rotate material heavily across the tour. Geddy Lee had promised fans variety: “We plan on changing the set every night… if you come to four shows in Toronto, you’re going to hear four different sets.”
Lee addressed the decision to tour under the Rush name without Peart, explaining it was a topic of internal debate but ultimately the right call. “What else do you fucking call it? … We were twisting ourselves into a pretzel to try to avoid using the name that we have had for fifty years.” He added that Peart’s family gave their blessing.
The “Fifty Something” tour, which began in Los Angeles earlier in June 2026, has already sold over half a million tickets across 58 shows in 24 cities for 2026 alone. Additional dates in South America and Europe are scheduled for early 2027 — Rush’s first European shows since 2013 and first South American dates in 17 years.
Fans in Mexico City responded with massive enthusiasm, making the debut a memorable night that celebrated Rush’s enduring catalog and Neil Peart’s lasting legacy through heartfelt tribute segments.
