Slipknot are quietly stirring new life in the studio, and their drummer Eloy Casagrande has confirmed that “new material is coming, for sure.” The remarks come from a recent interview with Drummer’s Review, where Casagrande laid out how the band has been exchanging guitar riffs, laying down drum beats, and exploring ideas since he became a part of the group.
Casagrande says the process has involved lots of loose experimentation. “We had also some jam sessions. So we have a lot of material right now. We just have to sit and put everything together, start jamming, and it’s happening … It already happened. It’s gonna happen in the future.”
The drummer replaced Jay Weinberg when Slipknot welcomed Casagrande in April 2024. Since then, the band has teased new music before—including a track called “Long May You Die,” rumored to have been recorded early with the new lineup. But none of that has yet been officially released.
Guitarist Jim Root has also shared that he has completed about six song arrangements so far, with more in the works. Root’s aim is to gather a larger pool of ideas—20 to 25 songs—before locking into pre-production. He mentioned that touring has made creativity harder to focus on lately, and the band is trying to carve out space for writing.
While there’s no release date or album name revealed yet, the signs are clear: Slipknot is moving toward something new. After several years without fresh material, the band appears to be setting the stage for a return, not just to the studio, but to a sound shaped by new chemistry and renewed energy. Casagrande’s message to fans is simple: they’re cooking something, and it’s going to arrive eventually.
