The two bands Slash thought were better than Nirvana

It is odd to consider that Guns N’ Roses rose to fame while Nirvana first formed as a Seattle underground band. However, Kurt Cobain founded Guns the same year that the band’s debut album, Appetite for Destruction, was released.

Guns N’ Roses’ classic rock sound has always made them seem like heavy rock revivalists from the 1970s. So, it’s a little surprising to consider. They were becoming popular at the same time that grunge was gaining popularity. Given that Guns N’ Roses were far more glam-inspired than some of their dirtier peers, it was obvious. The label of ‘grunge‘ artists would never be applied to them shortly.

The guitarist for Guns N’ Roses, Slash, once discussed how the grunge movement differed from his music project. He said, “It was kinda lame that music writers at the start of the ’90s could only create an identity for the Seattle bands. They did this by setting them up as anti-Guns N’ Roses.” “I am aware that some writers view the entire grunge movement as the end of the Guns.”

Our success at that time shielded us from the impact of the grunge bands’ rise. In my opinion, Nirvana was awesome. Four of their albums are mine. However, they lacked the weight and riff-focused quality of Alice In Chains or Soundgarden. My two favorite Seattle bands were those two.

The heavy metal influence on Alice in Chains’s Facelift album resonated with Slash, leading to his admiration for the band. Especially when used about Alice in Chains, the grunge term was something of a journalistic throwaway. Although they maintained that their name had nothing to do with the Guns N’ Roses moniker, Alice in Chains was the offshoot of singer Layne Staley’s former band. Alice N’ Chains were a glam rock group.

Slash made analogies between Cobain and Axl Rose in other places, saying, “I suppose Axl and Kurt Cobain had some issues.” However, Dave Grohl and Duff [McKagan] are on my album. That means that one Nirvana member did not despise me! I thought Cobain was amazing. It’s unfortunate, but it was also probably inevitable that he would do what he did, even though he wrote some amazing things.

Nirvana had received an invitation to tour with Gun N’ Roses in 1991. However, they turned it down because Kurt Cobain thought the band wouldn’t want to serve as the support act in large arenas. That Slash liked Soundgarden and Alice in Chains as well, then.

  1. Slash is not exactly bringing the truth to the table. First off a paparazzi recording conspiracy created all the bands names including Guns and Roses. Teen Spirit is about the paparazzi recording conspiracy.
Alice In Chains was created by the ghost guitarist song writer. Layne Stayle and Kurt Cobain became acquainted with the unknown guitarist. Chris Cornell became acquainted with the guitarist the same place and time as Kurt Cobain.
Paradise City was written by the ghost guitarist being ripped off in a bootleg recording conspiracy.
The music conspiracy is mega huge as the ghost guitarist created many songs all becoming hits through many bands and artists. Even Taylor Swift is involved as Shake It Off is an illegal copyrighted song the ghost guitarist created. One guitarist song creator has literally accomplished what no one will believe, he designed the entire music business that presently exists.
