Trademark Filings Suggest Back To The Beginning Could Become a Recurring Festival

Recent reports suggest Back To The Beginning — the farewell concert held on July 5, 2025, at Villa Park, Birmingham, UK, billed as the final live performance by Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne — might become more than just a powerful last chapter. Trademark applications filed in the U.S. by Monowise Ltd, the rights-holding company associated with Ozzy Osbourne, indicate the name Back To The Beginning could be protected for “entertainment services in the nature of live musical performance.”

A similar trademark filing is expected in the UK. These moves suggest the possibility that the Back To The Beginning brand might return in future concerts or festivals, potentially as an annual event or in multiple locations.

The original event featured tribute performances by Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, and others, celebrating both Ozzy Osbourne’s solo work and Black Sabbath’s catalog. The show was streamed globally and was meant as a ceremonial farewell.

At this time it is not confirmed whether these trademark filings are directly tied to an annual festival plan, or if they are precautionary moves related to merchandise, potential film/streaming rights, or future tributes.
