Watch: Megadeth Unleash New Single “Tipping Point” Onstage for the First Time

Megadeth unveiled their new single “Tipping Point” live for the first time on October 14, 2025, at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome while opening for Disturbed on their European tour.

Before launching into the song, frontman Dave Mustaine warmed up the audience:

“We have a new record coming out. And we have a new single that’s out right now. And we’re gonna play that song the first time ever right now.”

Tipping Point is the lead single from Megadeth’s upcoming self-titled album, scheduled for release on January 23, 2026.   This album will be released via Mustaine’s Tradecraft imprint on the BLKIIBLK label under Frontiers.

Musically, Tipping Point opens with a thunderous guitar solo, setting a fierce tone before Mustaine’s voice enters. The lyric and video themes lean dark and symbolic: in the official video directed by Leonardo Liberti, Mustaine is shown locked in a prison, tortured and haunted, before eventually breaking free into a new dawn.

Mustaine had previously explained the meaning behind Tipping Point:

“We all have different ‘tipping points’ and they may vary from day to day … I think we’re all being pushed to the edge right now, and it’s easy to lean into that feeling. But it’s important not to let things get you down.”

The new single and its live performance mark the beginning of a pivotal moment for Megadeth. Earlier in August, Mustaine announced that this forthcoming album will be their final studio record, and the band will accompany it with a farewell tour.   In announcing this, Mustaine thanked fans and expressed pride in ending on their terms:

“We can’t wait for you to hear this album and see us on tour. … That’s where I’m at in my life right now … This is also a perfect time for us to tell you that it’s our last studio album.”

For Tipping Point, Mustaine reunited with producer Chris Rakestraw, who had previously worked on their 2022 album The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! as well as Dystopia (2016).  The current Megadeth lineup includes Mustaine, Teemu Mäntysaari (guitar), James LoMenzo (bass), and Dirk Verbeuren (drums).  Mäntysaari joined the band in 2023, replacing Kiko Loureiro.

This live vocal birth of Tipping Point already feels historic. For longtime fans, it’s more than a preview—it’s a signal that Megadeth is going out with power, not quietly.
