Phish delivered one of the standout moments of their Las Vegas Sphere residency when they paid tribute to rock legend Joe Walsh during a recent show — with Walsh himself watching from the crowd.

The performance took place during the band’s ongoing April 2026 residency at the Sphere, where Phish have been blending their signature improvisational style with the venue’s cutting-edge visuals and sound.

During the show, frontman Trey Anastasio revealed that Joe Walsh was in attendance, calling him a major influence on the band’s sound and even describing him as foundational to what Phish became musically.

In response, the band launched into a cover of “Walk Away,” the classic track by Walsh’s former band, James Gang. The performance wasn’t just a casual nod — it was delivered with intensity and purpose, turning into one of the night’s defining highlights.

The tribute came as part of a larger, immersive show that featured elaborate visuals, extended jams, and deep cuts, all hallmarks of Phish’s live performances. The Sphere’s massive LED environment and advanced production added another dimension, transforming the concert into a full audiovisual experience.

Fans in attendance noted how the band seemed energized by Walsh’s presence, pushing the performance further as the night unfolded. The tribute also reinforced the connection between generations of rock musicians — with Phish openly acknowledging the artists who shaped their sound decades earlier.

Walsh himself later responded positively to the moment, expressing appreciation for the tribute and the performance, further highlighting the mutual respect between the artists.

Ultimately, the night wasn’t just another stop on a residency — it became a celebration of influence and legacy, with Phish honoring one of their heroes in real time, inside one of the most technologically advanced venues in the world.
