Oasis are officially part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2026, and frontman Liam Gallagher had plenty to say after the announcement.
Shortly after the induction news became public, Gallagher jumped onto social media and began interacting with fans in a series of posts. His reaction mixed excitement, humor and a bit of the cheeky attitude he’s known for.
In one message he joked about his earlier criticism of the institution, writing that there were “reverse psychology vibes in the area,” suggesting his past complaints about the Hall may have worked in Oasis’ favor.
The singer also personally thanked fans who said they had voted for the band in the Hall’s fan ballot. The gesture was notable because only weeks earlier Gallagher had sarcastically posted that he would like to thank people who didn’t vote for Oasis “from the bottom of my heart.”
Despite the playful tone, Gallagher made it clear that the induction meant a lot to him. At one point he told followers he was “thrilled to bits” about the honor and joked that he might have had to pay for it himself.
When another fan asked whether he and his brother Noel Gallagher would attend the ceremony, Liam replied enthusiastically that they would both be there, adding that they were “sooooo proud and humble.”
In another message Gallagher reflected on the milestone with a surprisingly sentimental tone. He thanked those who supported the band and called the recognition “a real honor,” adding that he once dreamed of reaching the Rock Hall when he was “a little kid singing in the shower.”
The comments marked a noticeable shift from the Gallaghers’ previous opinions about the Hall of Fame. Both Liam and Noel had previously questioned the organization’s credibility and purpose. Liam once bluntly described the Hall as being “full of wankers” and said he didn’t want to be part of something he felt was disconnected from real rock culture.
Regardless of those past criticisms, Oasis’ induction reflects their enormous influence on rock music. Formed in Manchester in the early 1990s, the band became one of the defining acts of the Britpop movement and went on to sell more than 100 million records worldwide.
They will enter the Hall alongside other 2026 inductees including Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Sade, Wu-Tang Clan, Joy Division/New Order and Luther Vandross.
The official induction ceremony is scheduled for November 14, 2026, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, where the band will be formally honored among rock music’s most influential artists.
For a band that once mocked the institution, the moment now adds another chapter to Oasis’ long and unpredictable story — proving once again that when it comes to the Gallagher brothers, nothing ever unfolds exactly as expected.
