Anthrax have finally kicked off the rollout for their long-awaited new studio album with “It’s for the Kids,” the first single from Cursum Perficio, which is scheduled for release on September 18, 2026 in North America via Megaforce and in Europe via Nuclear Blast. The single was set to arrive on Friday, May 15, 2026, and the band had already been teasing the release with a countdown and social posts leading into the launch.
The album has been a long time coming. Anthrax’s last full studio record was For All Kings in 2016, which means Cursum Perficio will mark the band’s first new album in a decade. The title is taken from a Latin phrase associated with Marilyn Monroe’s final home, and it is commonly read as “My journey ends,” though it more literally means “I will persevere” or “I accomplish my course.”
According to the band, the record was partly recorded and mixed at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Northridge, California, and the official video for “It’s for the Kids” was filmed last December. Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante has said he is excited about the album and described it as “really, really good,” while guitarist Scott Ian has said the band’s long-distance writing process during the pandemic helped keep the project moving.
The album is reported to contain 11 songs, with the publicly named tracks including “My Victory,” “Persistence Of Memory,” “The Long Goodbye,” “It’s For The Kids,” “Everybody’s Got A Plan,” “The Edge Of Perfection,” “Infectious,” “NYC 93,” “Cursum Perficio,” “T.O.M.B.,” and “Watch It Go.” That track list suggests the band is balancing the fast, hooky aggression they are known for with a few more expansive or concept-driven pieces.
The release also lines up with a packed 2026 live schedule. Anthrax are booked for a major run of European festivals and club shows through the summer, followed by North American dates in the fall, including major appearances with Iron Maiden and at festivals such as Louder Than Life.
