Deep Purple have released “Diablo,” the second single from their upcoming studio album Splat!, due out on July 3, 2026 via earMUSIC. The new song follows first single “Arrogant Boy” and continues the band’s rollout ahead of a major summer touring schedule.
The band describes “Diablo” as part of a surreal new story world in which a heroine crosses a river, jumps into a fighting pit, celebrates with a bucket of wine, falls into a glitter pool, and somehow makes it home with a story to tell. Musically, the track is framed as a classic Deep Purple rocker built on riff, groove, and the chemistry the band captures in the studio.
The new single also features a special guest: Keith Urban plays second guitar on the track. Deep Purple said the official performance video will premiere on June 7 at 20:00 CEST on earMUSIC’s YouTube channel, where fans will be able to chat with Roger Glover during the premiere.
Frontman Ian Gillan said the song is “all about taking chances,” encouraging listeners to step off the highway and take “that curious bend in the road.” He also said the current lineup feels like a very “now” version of Deep Purple while still carrying the spirit of the 1970s.
The album is already drawing praise from early reviewers, with Uncut calling it “distilled, high-octane PURPLE at its finest” and Classic Rock saying it delivers “everything that makes DEEP PURPLE one of the greatest acts in hard rock.” The band’s fall and summer plans are equally massive: 86 shows across 28 countries, with European dates beginning next week before the tour heads to North America.
