Brad Whitford Explains If Steven Tyler And Joe Perry’s Farewell Was ‘Faking’

Brad Whitford

Brad Whitford discusses Aerosmith’s farewell in a recent interview with Guitar World, and if Steven Tyler and Joe Perry were faking it.

Whitford addressed if the band will continue to perform a few years after announcing their farewell tour, as ‘other bands’ have done. He said, “In my opinion, it is not feasible to continue. I don’t lie to anyone; I just don’t do it, which occasionally irritates people. That’s just the way things are. People must be willing to accept it. And I was probably the last person to sign up for this tour because, while this is a multimillion-dollar company, the fact is that you have to work hard to end up in a decent financial position.”

The Less Drama, The Better

Throughout the band’s existence, there have been several dramas and feuds. Despite the Perry-Tyler conflict and other occurrences, the members’ disagreements have recently begun to calm down. Brad Whitford discussed the band’s confusion and what will happen once the tour is over.

He said, “But it’s hardly rocket science, and it should always be more fun than you’ve had before, right? There should be no drama; we humans have enough on our plates. So when we finish this tour, that’ll be the end of it.”

The Farewell Tour Postponed Due to Tyler’s Health Issues

The Peace Out: The Farewell Tour’ was meant to finish in 2023, but it was delayed until 2024 owing to Steven Tyler’s health difficulties. After injuring his voice chords, the band announced on Instagram that the tour would be postponed until 2024. Tyler’s physicians first told him that he shouldn’t sing for the following 30 days, which eventually added up to a couple of months.

Aerosmith has added six concerts for 2024 to their rescheduled tour dates. It’s unclear whether the band will add more performances to their schedule for the next year.

Jan. 29 – Detroit, MI @ Little Caesars Arena
Feb. 14 – Chicago, IL @ United Center
Feb. 17 – Washington, DC @ Capitol One Arena
Feb. 21 – Toronto, ON @ Scotiabank Arena
