Slash says a new Guns N’ Roses album is “coming,” though there’s no confirmed release date yet. In a recent interview with Guitar World, he shared that the band has “so much material at this point,” and that it’s “just a matter of having the discipline to sit down and … get into it.”
He emphasized how GN’R’s creative spark tends to happen “spontaneously”—inspiration strikes, and eventually the pieces start falling into place. “The thing with Guns is, in my experience, you can never plan ahead … every time we’ve done that, it falls apart.”
Slash also said, “So it’s coming. I know it’s coming because everybody is thinking about it.” Still, he tempered expectations: the band is balancing tours, solo projects, and other work, which has slowed the process. Still, the momentum feels different this time.
Duff McKagan, the band’s bassist, has backed this up. He recently confirmed that there is new music being written. But like Slash, he’s less certain of how it will all come together—whether as singles, EPs, or a full album.
For fans, the takeaway is hopeful: GN’R isn’t resting on legacy alone. Old demos, new ideas, and genuine energy seem to be aligning toward something fans have been waiting for. When it drops, it might just carry a lifetime’s worth of expectation—and maybe exceed it.
