Violet Grohl has officially stepped into her own spotlight.

Just two days after quietly releasing her debut single on Bandcamp, the 18-year-old singer-songwriter has signed a recording deal with Republic Records through her newly launched imprint, Auroura Records, marking the beginning of a major new chapter in her musical career. Her debut tracks, “THUM” and “Applefish,” are now available across all streaming platforms, with a full-length album expected later this year.

The deal comes with rare speed and confidence from a major label, underscoring the industry’s belief that Violet is not simply a famous last name, but a genuine emerging artist in her own right.

Republic Records president Kristina Grossmann praised Violet’s early work and creative voice, calling her “the next generation of artists.”

“Violet represents the next generation of artists,” Grossmann said in a statement. “Her songwriting is intentional, her voice is distinctive, and her vision is already clear. She’s not chasing trends — she’s building something personal and lasting.”

The announcement came just 48 hours after Violet released “THUM” and “Applefish” independently on Bandcamp, a low-key debut that immediately drew attention for its introspective lyrics, atmospheric production, and emotionally raw delivery.

With the Republic Records partnership now in place, both songs have been rolled out globally on major streaming platforms, introducing Violet to a much wider audience.

Earlier this week, Violet also released “What’s Heaven Without You,” a deeply personal tribute to legendary filmmaker David Lynch on what would have been his 80th birthday. The song reflected her growing artistic depth, blending melancholy piano lines with intimate vocals and a sense of emotional gravity well beyond her years.

The release further solidified her reputation as a songwriter drawn to emotional storytelling rather than pop spectacle.

While this marks Violet Grohl’s official solo debut, she is far from new to performing.

She has previously shared the stage with Foo Fighters, most notably during live shows where she joined her father Dave Grohl to sing covers and original material. She also appeared in the band’s Hanukkah Sessions, showcasing her vocal range and comfort in front of large audiences.

Violet contributed backing vocals to “Show Me How” from Foo Fighters’ 2023 album But Here We Are, a record deeply shaped by grief and loss following the deaths of drummer Taylor Hawkins and Dave Grohl’s mother, Virginia Grohl. Her presence on the track added a generational layer of emotion that resonated with fans.

Those appearances planted the seeds. This signing makes it official: Violet Grohl is now building her own musical identity.

The deal is structured through Violet’s own imprint, Auroura Records, giving her creative autonomy while benefiting from Republic’s global infrastructure.

Industry insiders see this as a strategic move — allowing Violet to retain artistic control while positioning her for a serious long-term career. The imprint structure also signals that this is not a vanity project or a rushed industry rollout, but a carefully shaped debut designed around her voice, writing, and vision.

A full-length album is currently in development and is expected later in 2026. While no title or release date has been announced yet, early material suggests a project rooted in confessional songwriting, moody arrangements, and emotionally honest themes.

For Violet Grohl, the transition from guest vocalist to solo artist is now complete.

She’s no longer just the daughter of a rock icon or a voice heard on special occasions. With a major label deal, her own imprint, and a debut body of work on the way, she’s stepping fully into her own chapter — one that looks set to unfold on her own terms.

And this time, the world is listening.
